About Quinterra
Quinterra P.O. Box 245, Calistoga, Ca 94515 707.332.4908 www.quinterra.com Local artisans, Quinn and Emily Scheibal were high school sweethearts from the Napa Valley who parted ways after graduation to pursue their individual artistic visions. Emily went to New York, where she attended State University of New York, focusing on plaster and mold-making with a fine art curriculum. Quinn traveled for several years and then returned to Calistoga, where he embarked on a journey into the world of garden ornamentation, eventually developing an innovative solution to making durable but lightweight concrete garden accessories. For over five years, Quinn sold his work on a very small scale, mainly to landscape architects and local designers, until a chance encounter brought he and Emily back together, nearly ten years from when they had last met. Emily had returned to the Valley with the technical and design expertise to market Quinns work, and a burning ambition to make sculpting her lifes work. Two years later, now married, Quinn and Emily have formed a husband and wife concrete team and dubbed it Quinterra, terra being latin for of the earth. Their work is both contemporary and classic, elegant, and extremely user-friendly. One of their more popular items, a simple, textural garden sphere, though made of concrete, can actually be floated in a pond or fountain. Quinterra garden art was recently showcased at the annual San Francisco Garden Show held at the Cow Palace. Among the businesses where you will soon find their pieces are The Gardener (www.thegardener.com), with locations in San Francisco, Berkeley, and Healdsburg, and ISDA & Co. (www.isdaandco.com), with a retail store in San Francisco. Emily muses that After the pace and complexity of the design scene in New York, Im delighted to be here, working with my hands. The beauty and serenity of the Napa Valley is such an inspiration, and I feel that Quinn and I have really been able to impart that in our work. We are very lucky that we share both love, and a passion for creativity., says Quinn with a smile. Visit their website at www.Quinterra.com.
